Job overview

This is a creative role within the Charity team that supports the creation, and delivery of digital and written content across a range of communication channels. This includes, but is not limited to, social media, website, email marketing, fundraising campaigns, press releases, and charity literature. The role will help maintain the charity’s digital platforms, engage with supporters, and promote the charity’s mission and events.

Main duties of the job

  • Collate, create, write, and edit engaging content to be shared across all social media platforms and communication channels.
  • Support with the creation, and execution of campaigns and promotional materials across both digital and print platforms for internal and external audiences.
  • Work closely with the Charity Brand Manager and wider creative team to ensure all content aligns with brand tone, messaging, and visual identity.
  • Draft and edit content for use across the charity’s platforms including website, social media, events, email communications, newsletters, and donor literature.
  • Source stories from patients, staff, supporters, and the local community to be used in charity marketing projects.
  • Monitoring of digital channels (e.g., social media, direct messages, email inboxes), responding to routine enquiries using templates or under guidance, and help ensure all content is accurate, timely, and on-brand.
  • Use tools such as Hootsuite and Meta Business Suite to schedule and manage social media content.
  • Contribute to monthly performance reports and offer insight based on content analytics.
  • Research market trends in charity, fundraising, and social media to ensure content remains fresh and effective.
  • Provide editorial and creative input in the preparation and formatting of materials for charity campaigns, stewardship communications, and donor engagement activities, following guidance from senior team members.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Social Media & Digital Engagement:

  • Create, publish, and schedule content across all digital platforms.
  • Write social media copy in the charity’s tone of voice, tailored to each platform and audience.
  • Support the recruitment for events using social media and other digital channels.
  • Monitor accounts, engage with the audience, and maintain a consistent content calendar.
  • Collaborate with the wider fundraising team on social-led event promotion and recruitment.
  • Support the delivery and development of key charity products, including monthly giving and legacy campaigns.

 

Content Writing & Editorial:

  • Write and edit case studies, website content, event write-ups, press releases, mass emails, newsletters and donor communications.
  • Ensure all written content follows a consistent brand tone and messaging strategy.
  • Explore and share new writing styles and formats to increase engagement.
  • Support the creation of core messaging, campaigns, and printed literature.
  • Write internal and external comms to increase awareness and engagement around the charity and our mission.
  • Write and edit content for key charity campaigns such as World Cancer Day, International Day of Charity, Christmas, and others.

 

Website & Digital Channel Management:

  • Support ongoing website maintenance, ensuring up-to-date charity messaging and timely content updates.
  • Work with the creative team to build complementary website and blog content.
  • Maintain accuracy of the online shop, including product information, pricing and descriptions.
  • Assist in maintaining the internal intranet site to improve staff engagement.
  • Support the charity's digital optimisation projects.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Support with administrative tasks as directed by the Charity Brand Manager.
  • Positively represent the Charity team when liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all charity digital platforms including the website, intranet, social media and email marketing systems.
  • Feed relevant supporter and campaign data into the charity’s CRM system.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of high-quality content for all communications.
  • Attend events, presentations, and content days to capture stories, media, and supporter engagement.
  • Take part in campaign planning and creative brainstorming sessions, contributing innovative ideas and insights.

  • NVQ/BTEC level 3 level or equivalent knowledge and experience in a relevant subject area such as design, marketing, promotion, charity work.
  • Previous experience in a similar content creation or social media role. Passion for both writing and digital media.
  • Competent in IT and digital tools such as Canva, Adobe, Hootsuite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel within geographical area effectively
  • Some experience in producing original digital or written materials. Awareness of current trends in digital and social media.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a content or fundraising support role within healthcare or charity sectors.
  • Fluent in Welsh language.
  • Ability to travel to local, national and/or international fundraising events.
