Job overview
The breast cancer clinical nurse specialist team are looking for an innovative and dynamic individual with an appropriate nursing skill set to join the established team of cancer specialist nurses, surgical consultants and support workers who provide specialist care and support to work across the health board. The successful applicant would have a period of mentorship by the experienced specialist nurse teams.
This is a substantive band 7 post at 37.5 hrs per week (1 WTE). The base location would be at Bronglais General Hospital but with an expectation to travel to other hospital sites within the health board to support services and service delivery in line with National Optimal Pathways and the health board’s cancer agenda. The breast service sits within the Planned Care and Cancer Care Group.
Applications for this post are invited from nurses who have knowledge and experience of breast pathologies. We are looking for an individual who has a flexible approach to the needs of the service, is dynamic, self-motivated, and reliable and a good team player. The right person must have the passion and drive to provide high-quality person-centred care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will organise and manage a caseload for a defined group of patients / service users, providing specialist cancer nursing support, advice and education and care to that specific group.
The post holder would be a key worker for diagnosed cancer patients and would be expected to provide expert holistic assessment and care to these complex client groups within Hywel Dda University Health Board.
You should be willing to develop your academic and clinic practice and have a commitment to continuing professional development. You should have excellent communication skills as will need to play an active part in clinical practice, education, research/audit and the implementation of national guidelines.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Registered Nurse (Part 1)
- Current NMC Registration
- Master’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Specialist qualifications
- Expert level of knowledge in clinical speciality

- Able to undertake a literature search and critically appraise research papers

- Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
