The salary scale for a Band 3 has been adjusted as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2026/2027 and will be implemented in August 2026 backdated to 01 April 2026 where applicable.

Job overview

We are looking for a Ward Clerk to join our multi-disciplinary team on the Day Surgery Unit, in Glangwili Hospital. 

You must have excellent communication skills and work well within a team. You will need to be able to work calmly and efficiently within a busy environment. 

Whilst remaining focused on providing high standards of service, you will use initiative to prioritise workload.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is motivated with good attention to detail, to help support the ward staff with a wide range of administrative tasks. Duties will involve updating hospital computer systems, handling medical records and answering the telephones. Relevant experience preferred, but support will be offered around specific role skills.
The main duties include:
Dealing with general enquiries, and using initiative to direct enquiries to relevant person.
Data input into WPAS, telephone calls and emails.
Meet and greet service users attending ward for appointments as required.
Dealing with enquiries from members of the multi-disciplinary team, service users and their families/carers, directing individuals to the correct department.
Providing non clinical advice e.g. appointments.
Meet and greet staff and other agencies i.e. when arriving for team meetings etc.
Answering all incoming calls and referring to staff if unable to give appropriate replies.
Exercising tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in dealing with staff, service users and written/electronic communications.
 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
