Job overview

We are pleased to be able to offer two full times roles within the Finance Directorate.  One position is within our Financial Accounting Team and the other is within our Finance Core Accounting Team.

It is essential that candidates have minimum qualifications requirements, previous accounts experience and IT skills, particularly strong excel skills.

Main duties of the job

The key duties of the posts are:

Core Accounting Team 

  • Calculating and processing accruals and prepayments for monthly expenditure in line with the month-end timetable
  • Requesting invoices to be raised ensuring that the correct coding and VAT treatment are applied
  • Undertake monthly Balance sheet reconciliations using Blackline for accruals and prepayments
  • Assists in the process improvement agenda and ensures standardised processes are transacted in the most efficiently.
  • Plans and organises own workload to ensure all tasks are completed within agreed deadlines

Financial Accounting 

  • Plans and organises own workload to ensure all transactions are dealt with in timely manner.
  • Undertake monthly Balance sheet reconciliations using Blackline software for payroll deductions, pharmacy.
  • Provides cover for processing payments and updating the cash book including CHAPS payments.
  • Assists in the process improvement agenda and ensures processes within the Financial Accounting section are transacted in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • Provides cover for the calculation of provisions in relation to losses including completion of control account reconciliations 
  • Support the production of Annual Accounts

services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals  in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
  • Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths
  • A level’s or Equivalent
  • AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience and studying for AAT Level 4.
  • Working knowledge of financial ledger systems, reconciliations and journals and VAT payments and deductions
Desirable criteria
  • Full AAT, CCAB or Equivalent Qualification
  • Studying or Part Qualified status

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous Accounts experience
Desirable criteria
  • Oracle Systems experience
  • Experience within NHS Finance

Other

Essential criteria
  • Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
  • Flexible approach to needs of the service

Language Skills

Desirable criteria
  • Welsh Speaker (level 1)
