Job overview
The Integrated Psychological Therapies Service (IPTS) provides intensive support for people experiencing mental health related conditions and require psychological therapeutic intervention. We work collaboratively with other mental health service providers and are committed to providing care for service users and their families/carers within the least restrictive environment.
Interested individuals will be expected to be enthusiastic, flexible to the needs of the service and committed to the working ethos of the IPTS model. The ability to travel between sites in a timely manner is essential as travel across the three Counties will be required.
It is essential that you have a recognised professional qualification such as nurse registration/social work/occupational therapy. Applicants will require a sound knowledge of current issues pertaining to mental health and psychological well-being.
Main duties of the job
Accept and screen referrals via agreed protocols within the IPTS, and makes decisions on the suitability of new referrals, and liaise with the referrer if necessary.
Assess service users who may be experiencing difficulties with their Mental Health and may be in need of psychological interventions.
Works autonomously to undertake person-centred assessments which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
Formulate a plan and implement tailored packages of care using evidence based psychological therapies. Develop programmes of care for service users with complex needs.
Undertake ongoing and continuous assessments in terms of the effectiveness of the interventions being delivered as adjustments to plans may be required.
Provide advice to service users and carers, recognising the involvement of carers and provide support for them, and with the clients consent involve carers in the care planning process where appropriate.
Be responsible for a delegated clinical caseload within their identified areas of responsibility.
Access clinical supervision for work/caseload review and further ad hoc supervision relevant to their practice modality.
Work collaboratively and liaise/work with other members of their team, members of appropriate in-patient units, associated members of CMHTs and other identified teams and agencies/professionals.

- 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers

Qualifications & KInowledge
Essential criteria
- Formal Qualification: RMN/ Degree in Nursing/ Social Work/ OT
- Current registration on a professional register
- Specialist knowledge of clinical skills within the field to postgraduate diploma level gained through theoretical and practical training and experience
- Knowledge of NMC and other professional bodies’ codes of practice
- Knowledge of current policies, practices & procedures within nursing, healthcare and HDUHB
- Knowledge of extended role responsibilities
- Understanding of clinical competence & clinical governance
- Awareness of topical issues in clinical skills
- Knowledge of clinical supervision & clinical effectiveness in the workplace
- Period of post-registration clinical experience where a degree of autonomous working has been require
- Current clinical experience in mental health
- Experience of providing psychological interventions for people with mental health difficulties e.g. anxiety management, distress tolerance
- Evidence of working on own initiative, managing time and prioritising
- Experience of extended clinical responsibilities
- Experience in clinical audit

Experience

- Evidence of working on own initiative, managing time and prioritising
- Experience of extended clinical responsibilities
- Experience in clinical audit
Desirable criteria
- Experience of facilitating or cofacilitating psychological intervention groups or psycho-social education groups
- Experience of delivering structured psychological therapy under supervision
- Experience of using DBT skills with clients in a group setting
- Experience of conducting audit / or research
- Experience of staff management and Personal Development Review
