Job overview

Hywel Dda University Health Board is on a very exciting journey of continuous quality improvement. Over recent years we have invested in developing our skill set and capability to make a real and sustainable difference in quality for our service users, families, carers and staff.

We have an exciting opportunity to expand our Quality Improvement & Service Transformation Team and are seeking an individual with admin experience and an interest in quality improvement.   

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and administrative skills whilst being able to support teams to improve and hold patient care at the heart of their work.

 

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a dynamic team across the four acute sites in Hywel Dda working on co-ordinating the Enabling Quality Improvement in Practice Programme and assisting in supporting the Quality Improvement & Service Transformation Practitioners in data collection and admin elements of projects.  

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Working for our organisation

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Our services are provided in:

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
  • Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of education (5 GCSE's or equivalent at A-C including Maths and English)
  • Level 3 or equivalent demonstrable experience of word processing
  • IT literate with a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft office, packages including word, excel, power point & outlook
  • Up to date skills in office systems and functions eg. Laptops, overhead projector, photocopiers, laminator
  • Bronze IQT
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL
  • Educated to advanced level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of NHS and how it works
  • Knowledge of HB and it’s development
  • IQT Silver

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Experience of setting up spreadsheets and managing multiple databases
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment and dealing with multiple priorities
  • Evidence of problem solving
  • Handles difficult situations and ensures effective working by using a range of interpersonal skills
  • Ability to produce written reports, minutes in a clear, concise language
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a changing environment
  • Experience of working within a healthcare environment
  • Experience of passing on knowledge to others through designing and delivering training
