If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference within a dynamic team, whilst working in a flexible environment, we have a fantastic opportunity to join the Long-Term Care Team’s Business Support Team as a Business Support Administrator.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide robust administrative, secretarial, project and business support to the Long-Term Care Team.
Candidates must have experience of working in busy office environments, undertaking complex clerical tasks, including communication on highly sensitive matters, and the use and development of spreadsheets and databases. Candidates must be self-motivating, able to work as effective team members, and be able to manage their own workloads to meet changing priorities.
You’ll also help improve how the team works - suggesting improvements to our ways of working and supporting digital changes. This role is ideal for someone organised, proactive, and confident communicating with a wide range of people.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Working for our organisation
Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.
Our services are provided in:
- Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
- Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
- Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
- 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 99 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
- Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Level 3 Secretarial/Admin qualification, or has equivalent demonstrable experience
- Experience in undertaking a full range of administrative duties in an office environment
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Continuing Healthcare and NHS Funded Nursing Care
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a busy environment, undertaking varied duties of a complex, sensitive, and intense nature
- Experience of using Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Work, PowerPoint and e-mail)
- Experience of handling challenging phone calls, emails, and other forms of communication from members of the public
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within the NHS
