Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced cancer nurse to join the non-medical Oncology Team at Hywel Dda University Health Board.

Based at Prince Philip Hospital, the successful post holder will primarily support people with a diagnosis of breast cancer who require  systemic anti cancer therapy. There will be an occasionally need to support patients being treated for other types of cancer.

Main duties of the job

This post will be based at Prince Philip but agile working will be supported.

You will be an integral part of the Breast Oncology clinic and will support patients through contact in clinic alongside the medical team, nurse led clinics and through follow up outside of clinic times.

If you are not already an independent non medical prescriber, you will be supported to complete this qualification within your first year in post. You will be experienced in managing toxicities of systemic anticancer treatment. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post: English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse (Part 1)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Expert level of knowledge in clinical speciality
  • Knowledge of service improvement
  • Able to undertake a literature search and critically appraise research papers
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of higher level of practice development within specialist area.

Experience

  • Extensive previous experience of working within specialty area.
