An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified GPhC Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly Pharmacy team at Prince Philip Hospital.

The innovative and friendly pharmacy team is well established within the health board. We are both ambitious and motivated, focusing our work around the best interests of our patients and continuously striving to improve the services we offer. The Pharmacy Department currently employs approximately 50 Staff.
Applicants will be required to take part in the weekend and bank holiday rota.
Main duties of the job
To undertake the day to day supervision and support of the regular pharmacy staff working in this area including, dispensing ATO’s and PRPT’s. To undertake the final accuracy check and release of prescriptions dispensed by other pharmacy staff as an ACPT. This involves prioritising checking workload to ensure urgent items are appropriately processed.
Undertake dispensing duties including validation and dispensing medicines for inpatients, day-patients and outpatients and patients being discharged from hospital according to the Dispensing SOP’s and labelling standards. Suggest changes to these as and when identified and implement agreed improvements cascading to the appropriate team members.
Provide a medicines management service (including medicines reconciliation) by collating information sources .This may involve searching medical notes for GP letters, repeat prescription forms, recent discharge prescriptions, taking drug histories and Medication Administration Records from care homes. It may also involve contacting GP surgeries, contacting community pharmacists, accessing clinical portal and/or obtaining and checking patients own medication. Undertake simple calculations and the monitoring of clinical test results where appropriate.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Qualified to degree or equivalent level, e.g. Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures acquired through training Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice or NVQ 3 and BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical science
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
- Accredited Checker Pharmacy Technician. (ACPT)
- Accredited Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician. (MMPT)
Desirable criteria
- Educational supervisor training
- Clinical supervisor training
- PWDS Pharmacy Medicines Optimisation Training Programme (PMOTP) – Unit 3 Clinical Prioritisation or equivalent.
- Management qualification/ experience
- Consultation skills qualification
- Leadership qualification
- Introduction to Education and trainings.
- Level 4 Enhanced Clinical Diploma
- Diploma of higher education in advanced Pharmacy Technician practice
- CIPS qualification in procurement.
