An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Support worker with the Emotional Health & Wellbeing Team Pembrokeshire.

This is an exciting time to join a, innovative service, which provides early intervention for the Emotional health needs of children, young people and their families in Pembrokeshire 

This is an exciting opportunity for motivated workers with relevant experience to develop their experience and clinical skills in child and adolescent mental health. Experience in Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services is not a requirement, and we would encourage interest from a range of candidates with relevant experience.

Excellent opportunities will be available for training and professional development and the post holder will receive managerial and clinical supervision.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside and be supervised and supported by their Emotional Health Practitioner colleagues to deliver interventions to children and young people. This will involve both providing direct support as well as linking children and young people into other sources of support and beneficial activities in the community in order to benefit their emotional and mental health. 

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly as part of a team to ensure excellent delivery of service provision, including working weekends where required to ensure accessibility and continuity of service delivery.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Working for our organisation

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Our services are provided in:

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
  • Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 3 or eqivalant training for HCSW
  • Have undertaken or be willing to undertake the Specialist CAMHS training in the Stages of Development, Mental Health Awareness, Child Protection training and Safeholding for Children and Young people

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in Child or Adult mental health
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working with children and young people

Language Skills

  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
