Job overview
We are pleased to be able to offer two full time Band 4 Assistant Psychology positions within CWP’s Acquired Brain Injury Service.
Position 1) Assistant Psychologist within the Wirral part of the team. This post supports the Highly Specialised Clinical Psychologist and Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist to provide input for people who have had a stroke or other type of brain injury as an adult. This includes providing input into a busy inpatient rehabilitation unit as part of an in-reach service and into the community services provided by the Acquired Brain Injury Team on the Wirral. The position is based at Clatterbridge Hospital on the Wirral and will involve travel to the team's base at the Countess of Chester Health Park.
Position 2) Assistant Psychologist within the Cheshire part of the team. This post supports the Highly Specialised Clinical Psychologist, Principal Clinical Psychologist and Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologists to provide community neuropsychology services provided by the Acquired Brain Injury team in Cheshire. The position is based at the Countess of Chester Health Park.
The successful applicants will work under the supervision of experienced clinicians and have access to support from other Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologists within the service. This is an exciting opportunity to develop protocol based psychometric, neuro-rehabilitation and psychological therapy skills to contribute to ongoing career in clinical psychology/neuropsychology.
Main duties of the job
You will work alongside case managers and vocational rehabilitation occupational therapists in an interdisciplinary team setting. The roles will require the post-holder to be able to travel independently throughout the Wirral and Cheshire region, which includes travel across rural areas.
To support the professional neuropsychological care of patients within the Acquired Brain Injury Service, across all sectors of care; assisting with neuropsychological assessment, neurorehabilitation and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist, working according to plans agreed with a qualified clinician and within the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits and collection of statistics related to departmental requirements, research projects, teaching and project work as appropriate.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Minimum 2.1 or equivalent Degree in Psychology (main subject Psychology)
- Eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
Desirable criteria
- Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
Knowledge & Expertise
Essential criteria
- IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of statistical analysis packages e.g. SPSS
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of work related to Clinical Psychology either as paid / voluntary Assistant Psychologist or Research Assistant with relevant clinical input
- Evidence of ability to work with multi-disciplinary team
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of neuropsychological assessment
