Job overview

Working Full time: 10 Sessions per week

The Trust is looking to recruit a locum full-time (10 PAs) Consultant in Cardiology, joining the existing team of Cardiologists to develop and grow the existing cardiology service.

We currently have facilities for CT coronary angiography, dobutamine and exercise stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography as well as a dedicated Cardiology Day Suite for on-site cardiac pacing. We have a growing department with a dynamic and flexible team of enthusiastic consultants and specialist practitioners. You will be supported by an excellent team of colleagues and will receive regular 1:1 support from the Clinical Lead.

Following a rebuild of our Cardiology ward and CCU which was completed in August 2021, this footprint has been redesigned as the Cardiology unit which consists of 16 beds in total within a single ward area. 6 of these are monitored and 10 non-monitored. We also have 4 telemetry monitors which can be utilised on other beds throughout the trust.

Main duties of the job

We provide a 7 day in reach service to our 53 bedded AMU, with support from the Cardiac Specialist Nurses during the working week. We are exploring new models of working with our primary care colleagues in the community as well as closely integrating services with our regional tertiary referral centre, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. We were proud to receive a favourable review by the GIRFT team in Dec 2019 and our future development plans reflect the suggestions of this report.
