Job overview

Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate who is keen to develop experience in the field of pelvic health physiotherapy. This post is for up to 37.5 hours per week; however there is some flexibility for negotiation of hours. Whilst we are looking for a candidate with well-developed skills at Specialist level, we would also consider applications from those keen to develop towards a specialist role

This role will deliver physiotherapy interventions to improve the prevention, identification, and management of pelvic health problems during the peri-natal period, along with widening access to pelvic health services. However, to ensure the successful candidate develops a broad range of specialist clinical skills the post will also encompass all aspects of pelvic, obstetric, and gynaecology physiotherapy.

This includes perinatal group education, obstetric inpatients, management of obstetric MSK patients, women’s and men’s pelvic floor dysfunction and breast care.

Main duties of the job

Previous pelvic health experience is not essential; you will work closely with the perinatal midwife. You will receive support and mentorship from senior POGP team members and partake in regular preceptorship/Clinical supervision, and in service training.  There is also network and peer support across the Cheshire and Mersey region as part of the perinatal project. The team is a valued part of the wider MDT, and works closely with colorectal and urogynaecology consultants and midwifery service and breast care team.

The POGP team deliver outpatient services in multiple locations including Tarporley, Ellesmere Port, Chester city centre and on the Countess of Chester Hospital site, so travel will be an integral part of this role.

Working for our organisation

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:

  • The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds
  • Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility
  • Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

The Trust employs over 5916 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 411,000. This includes 361,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.
