Job overview
Working Full time : 40 hours per week
The postholder will regularly attend supervised clinics, flexible cystoscopy lists, day case and inpatient lists so that the operative and management skills are commensurate with the level expected for ST3+. They will be actively encouraged to get involved in audit projects and academic work.
This is a Trust post and not recognised for training purposes, however the successful applicant will participate in relevant teaching opportunities.
Main duties of the job
Inpatients : The post offers a wide variety of experience in both elective and emergency Urology. The post holder will be responsible to the appropriate Consultants for admitting cases, the conduct of ward investigations and for pre- and post-operative care. They will also be responsible for arranging theatre lists and will participate in operative surgery, the extent of their involvement being commensurate with experience and ability.
Outpatients : The post holder will attend and assist in Urology Outpatient Clinics.

Qualifications & Skills
Essential criteria
- Registerable medical degree
- Full Registration with a licence to practice
Desirable criteria
- MRCS
- Diploma of Urology or equivalent
Clinical Experience and Effectiveness
Essential criteria
- Must have completed Substantive years full time hospital service as SHO or higher grade and have awide experience of Urology with at least Significant Urology experience at SHO level or higher
Teaching & Training Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of teaching to medical students and nursing staff
Desirable criteria
- Involvement in the teaching of resident doctors
Personal Attributes
Essential criteria
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and liaise with colleagues in other Specialties
Desirable criteria
- Caring and responsible attitude to colleagues and patients
