Job overview

Working under the direction of the Sustainability and Social Value Lead, the post holder supports the delivery, monitoring and communication of initiatives aligned to the Trust’s sustainability ambitions, social value commitments and the Healthier Futures Programme. The role supports implementation of sustainability actions including waste reduction, responsible resource use, carbon reduction, green travel and NHS Net Zero requirements. This includes data collection, project tracking, staff engagement and supporting teams to adopt sustainable practices. The post holder also supports social value delivery by helping map evidence and contribute to community benefit initiatives such as volunteering, local recruitment, community engagement, local supplier activity and inclusive wellbeing projects. In addition, the role provides coordination and administrative support to transport workstreams, including promoting sustainable travel and maintaining patient and courier transport data. The post holder works collaboratively with Trust teams and external partners, requiring strong organisational and communication skills.

Main duties of the job

Support delivery of the Trust’s Environmental and Social Responsibility Plan through coordinated project activity. Manage tasks, meetings and working groups and support allocated workstreams. Prepare reports, papers, presentations and briefings for Trust committees, tracking progress against sustainability and social value KPIs and maintaining auditable records. Deliver staff engagement, awareness campaigns and training to promote sustainable and socially responsible working practices across clinical and non-clinical teams. Support communications including digital content, newsletters, event materials and recognition campaigns, and gather evidence and feedback to support improvement. Support delivery of social value initiatives that improve community wellbeing, employment pathways, volunteering, skills development and local economic benefit. Work with procurement colleagues to embed social value within contracts and supplier activity, and support relationships with community partners and local authorities. Collect and manage social value data, supporting dashboards and reporting. Provide administrative and operational support to Trust transport services, including coordination of patient and courier transport, maintaining records and supporting service communications. Report to the Sustainability and Social Value Lead, ensure compliance with Trust and NHS requirements, and maintain professional development through appraisal and training.
