The NHP Risk & Assurance Manager will support the delivery and development of the New Hospital Programme risk agenda. The NHP Risk & Assurance Manager will play a pivotal role in promoting the continuing the development of a proactive risk management culture throughout the programme, helping to ensure risk is integral to all we do and is embedded throughout.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of hospital and community services for people across East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester (population 357K). Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The main objective for the NHP Risk & Assurance Manager will be to develop, facilitate and monitor the delivery and implementation of the programmes risk management strategy, as well as, supporting the development of the programmes risk management maturity.  The NHP Risk & Assurance Manager will co-ordinate the production of the risk register for the programme, providing advice and support to workstream leads about the quality of information that underpins assurance and risk ratings.

The post holder will also liaise with Programme Director, Deputy Programme Director and Programme Management Office to provide them with support and advice on risk management matters and ensure that key updates to records and risk register are made in a timely manner to meet the reporting needs of the Estate redevelopment programme Board (ERPB).  They will also work with the Trusts Corporate Risk and Assurance Manager, contribute to the delivery of the annual risk management training programme across the programme. 

The NHP Risk & Assurance Manager will represent the Programme at local/regional level for risk management, developing partnerships and sharing best practice to integrate this within the working of the organisation.

Person specification

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE/PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Postgraduate level qualification or equivalent in relevant subject or significant specialist knowledge & experience of working in a risk role/governance within the NHS or equivalent organisation.
  • Substantial experience of risk management and corporate governance.
  • Experience in presenting risk and assurance information for senior audiences
Desirable criteria
  • Broad understanding of the NHS

SKILLS

Essential criteria
  • Highly confident and resilient, comfortable asserting yourself with senior management (Executive & Board Level).
  • Skilled in analysing and interpreting complex and highly specialised information from various sources to identify themes, trends, and improvements in the Trust’s risk profile
  • Ability to summarise and present data and information, tailored to various audiences
  • Intellectual agility to propose credible amendments or changes to risk policy or procedure in conjunction with interested parties
  • Ability to work with high degree of autonomy, use own initiative and act without direct supervision, and make informed decisions
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience planning and facilitating workshops/risk exercises with (senior level) staff
