Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic ST3+ to join Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This post is a fixed term post for 6 months due to a rotational gap commencing on 2nd September 2026 – 1st March 2027. The successful applicant will work in the paediatric department and will participate in the on-call rota.


The Trust would welcome discussion with individuals looking for a more flexible working pattern to support a different work life balance.

Main duties of the job

This post will be within the middle grade tier working at ST3+ level.

Duties will be across:

  • Inpatient paediatrics; assessment and management of acute referrals from A&E and primary care.
  • Care of those already inpatient on children’s wards and support and supervision of first on-call trainees.
  • Neonatal Unit; on-going care and management of babies on the NNU, in transitional care and the post-natal wards. Support and supervision for first on trainees in these areas. Attendance at high risk deliveries.
  • Outpatient clinics alongside consultants
  • Safeguarding; assessment and management of children referred for safeguarding assessment under direct supervision of on-call consultant.
  • Attendance at monthly peer review meetings.
  • Administration; responsibility for e-discharges, Badger summaries, safeguarding reports and outpatient letters.

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration & LTP
  • Primary medical degree.
Desirable criteria
  • MRCPH Part I or Part II.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least to CMT level with evidence of appropriate practical procedures
  • Six months ST3+ NHS experience Up to date NLS and APLS/EPLS.
  • Shall have completed at least 4 years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a parttime or flexible basis) at least 2 of which will be in a Specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or shall have equivalent experience or competencies.

Ability

Essential criteria
  • Communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Demonstrates leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Desirable criteria
  • Project management experience.
  • Change management experience.
