Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the dynamic forward thinking Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Team on a fixed term basis for 12 months to cover maternity leave. The post is a full time position (37.5 hours a week), however, part time and/or job sharing would be considered for the right applicant/s.  The successful applicant must have a minimum  2 years post graduate experience as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist or equivalent.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a  specialist area of occupational therapy practice and work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high quality and evidence based practice for clients of the CWP Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Services.  The successful applicant will offer specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment focusing on perinatal mental health, transition to parenthood and consider the infant and mother-infant relationship.

This post is to caseload hold in the Wirral area of the CWP patch with the team's base being at Pioneer Business Park, Ellesmere Port.

Main duties of the job

This is a fixed term position for 12 months to cover maternity leave for 37.5  hours per week, covering core working hours (9am-5pm) Monday to Friday. Flexible/ job-share / part time arrangements may be considered.

The team cover the whole of the CWP footprint and four maternity units across the patch including ; - Arrowe Park Hospital - Wirral, Countess of Chester Hospital - Chester, Leighton Hospital – Crewe, Macclesfield District & General Hospital – Macclesfield. This post is to caseload hold in the Wirral part of our patch.

The clinical team mainly operate agile working with a weekly meeting held at the base and offer clinics across the patch, therefore ability to travel is necessary for this role.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Occupational Therapist with the Health Professions Council. Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Evidence of post registration study
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of professional body
  • Practice placement education qualification
  • Evidence of post Registration study in a field relevant to post eg PSI,CBT

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential criteria
  • Up to date knowledge and Application of current best Practice in Occupational Therapy and relevant Speciality.
  • Application of Occupational Therapy Outcome measures and Models of practice
  • A sound knowledge of the core skills of Occupational Therapy and their application in this field.
  • Able to communicate effectively. Possess good listening skills.
  • Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge base and rate personal experience of use of: CPA, Assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation, Quality and clinical audit, Health & Safety, Risk management, Mental Health Act,The application of practical and theoretical knowledge in contemporary health cares eg. Application of intervention strategies, A knowledge of National OT Strategies eg Recovering Ordinary Lives, Clinical Governance
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of the Health Profession Councils standards of Proficiency and the Occupational therapists responsibility to identify gaps in their knowledge base.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the concepts of mentorship, and supervision. Evidence of active participation in supervision and the appraisal process
Desirable criteria
  • Proactive in the implementation of change

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Have 2 years post graduate experience in a mental health setting as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist or equivalent
  • Experience in Group and individual interventions.
  • Experience working in a collaborative way with the MDT and service users/carers
  • Experience of working With the service user group applicable to post applied for
  • Experience in training other professionals and students
  • Experience of managing case work and liaison with community agencies, both statutory and nonstatutory.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of research and audit
