Job overview
To work as a member of the ophthalmology service team at Macclesfield District General and Congleton War Memorial Hospital.
Successful candidates will be expected to support the nursing team with the patient journey throughout the outpatient setting.
This includes checking the patient's vision, ophthalmic scans, visual fields and supporting the intravitreal injection clinic.
Hours per week: 28.50
for training and operational reasons.

Main duties of the job
To contribute to the delivery of care required by the patient within the clinic as direct by the Ophthalmology Nurse in charge.
Promptly alerts the Nurse in Charge to any issues or risks
Assist with appropriate aspects of nursing care within the clinic, including personal hygiene needs.
To ensure own actions contribute to the maintenance of a quality service provision
To participate in the Trust’s performance appraisal system and to undertake any identified training and development related to the post
To ensure the promotion of the safety of patients, staff and visitors to the department
To be aware of and work within the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy and to treat all contacts, staff or clients, with dignity and respect
To develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleges
To be responsible for the self-development of skills and competencies through participation in training and development activities and to maintain up to date technical and professional knowledge relevant to the post.
To maintain a broad understanding of the work of the surgical service line and of the Trust as a whole and actively contribute your ideas for the improvement of service provision
Perform Visual field testing and OCTs as a baseline of practice, as well as training to complete more complex scans.

- NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) Level 2 in Direct care or willing to undertake this.
Desirable criteria
- Trained to undertake OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)
