Job overview
Applications are invited from highly motivated and dynamic Resident Doctors to apply for the post of Junior Clinical Fellow (JCF) in our friendly hospital on our General Medicine Wards. This post will be F2 level dependent upon your previous experience.

The post will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to gain new skills or consolidate existing knowledge, whilst also providing valuable clinical exposure.
You will also be afforded training opportunities as outlined later in this document, however please note that this post is not recognised for formal training.
Please note as part of this post you may be required to work across all of East Cheshire’s Hospital Sites’ (including Congleton War Memorial Hospital)
You must have 12 months UK NHS experience to apply for this post.

Main duties of the job
Your daily duties will include ward rounds of the patients, at least two per week will usually be with the consultant, two with the registrar and one independently with senior supervision. Other ward jobs include writing discharge summaries, making referrals to other specialties, ordering and acting on investigations, reviewing unwell patients with supervision from a consultant/registrar when required. There will be opportunities to attend clinics and other sessions depending on your area of interest and staffing levels on the ward.
In order to ensure your transition and ongoing support in your role at East Cheshire Trust a package of support will be provided for you which will include, a paid 1 week structured induction within the department you will work. A designated educational and clinical supervisor for the duration of your placement at the trust and the use of a personalised ‘Horus’ portfolio in which to document your clinical/extracurricular activities. Additionally, a £500 study leave budget, pro rata if working less than full time, will be available to you to support course attendance .
There is the potential for the right candidate to be supported to attend related skills courses as appropriate. All successful candidates will be offered both ILS and ALS training fully funded by the Trust to augment their competence portfolio.

Qualification
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Good background in training at Foundation /House Officer level
- Full registration with the GMC (General Medical Council) at the time of applying
- 12 months UK NHS experience
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
- Acute care safe: up-to-date ALS (Advanced Life Support). Experience of working at night, and out of hours.
- Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job.
- Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.
- Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills, required in the job.
- Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job.
