This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Mammographer or radiographer wishing to train in mammography,  to join our friendly and motivated multidisciplinary team at Cheshire and Stockport Breast Screening Programme (East Cheshire, Mid Cheshire and Stockport).

Screening and symptomatic services are offered at the Macclesfield Breast Screening Centre with 3 Siemens digital mammography sets, 2 with stereo/tomosynthesis capabilities.

Mobile screening in Stockport is provided on a mobile van with Siemens digital mammography. 

Travel is essential to this role, so please demonstrate how you would meet these requirements.  A genuine occupational qualification applies to these posts under section 6 of the Sex Discrimination Act of 1975 and therefore they are restricted to female applicants only.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

To provide a high quality mammography service as part of the National Health Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) and Symptomatic Service for East Cheshire NHS Trust Breast Multidisciplinary Team.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • DCR (Dynamic Chest Radiography) (R) or Bachelor of Sciences Radiography
  • Society of Radiographers – Certificate of Competence in mammography or Post Graduate Certificate Mammography Principles & Practice
  • HCPC (Health and Care Professional Council) Registration
  • Evidence of CPD (Continuing Professional Development)
Desirable criteria
  • Oncology Knowledge
  • Attendance at Study Days
  • Involvement with Quality Assurance

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of IR (Ionising Radiation) ME (Medical Exposure) R20 (regulation) and IRR17 (Ionising Radiation Regulations)
  • Ability to perform high volume quality mammography to NHSBSP standards
  • Act as role model or mentor
  • Communication skills
  • To be empathetic to all patients attending the Breast Care Centre
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Car driver/owner (driving licence)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience and understanding of working in the NHSBSP
  • Experience working in Breast symptomatic clinics
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Academic study at Post Graduate level
  • Experience of working within: Breast clinics / Breast stereotactic procedures / Breast Ultrasound Clinics
