Job overview
Applications are invited from highly motivated and dynamic Junior Doctors to apply for a Junior Clinical Fellow Doctor, 5 month fixed term post in our friendly hospital. This post will be F2 level dependent upon your previous experience.
This post will offer candidates the opportunity to gain new skills or consolidate existing knowledge, whilst also providing valuable clinical exposure on in your chosen specialty. You will also be afforded training opportunities as outlined later in this document, however please note that Locally Employed Doctor posts are not recognised for formal training.
Working hours will be 40 per week. The successful applicant will work a full shift pattern which will include cross cover with other teams during the night shift giving experience in the acute care of patients. All rotas are based on compliant shift patterns that meet the requirements of the New Junior Doctor Contract 2016.
Any changes to working pattern will be compliant with EWTD targets and will be implemented as fairly as possible, but as a successful applicant you must expect to have periodic changes to your working hours as rota patterns alter and working.
Applicants must have full registration with the GMC (General Medical Council) at the time of applying.
Fixed Term - 5 months
Main duties of the job
During the period of the contract, the successful candidate will participate in acute on call cover alongside F2/Core Training doctors and Registrars.
Daily duties include attending ward rounds. You will also have the opportunity to assist in theatre where you can advance your surgical skills. Duties include day and night first on call.
In order to ensure your transition and ongoing support in your role at East Cheshire Trust a package of support will be provided for you which will include, a paid 1 week structured induction within the department you will work. A designated educational and clinical supervisor for the duration of your placement at the trust and the use of a personalised ‘Horus’ portfolio in which to document your clinical/extracurricular activities. Additionally, a £500 study leave budget, pro rata if working less than full time, will be available to you to support course attendance.

The basic salary for this role is outlined above based on a 40 hour working week. In addition, there will be enhancements for additional rostered hours (over 40), night rate hours and weekend working allowance in line with the relevant Nodal Point under the new Junior Doctor Contract 2016 pay scales. The value of the enhancement for the role can be provided upon request, however, this is subject to any future rota changes in line with service need.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full registration with the GMC (General Medical Council) at the time of applying
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Good background in training at Foundation /House Officer level
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
- Acute care safe: up-to-date ALS. Experience of working at night, and out of hours
- Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job.
- Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need
- Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills, required in the job
- Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job
