Main duties of the job

The post holders will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in Imaging, liaising with all involved in providing the CDC Service, ensuring appropriate imaging, reporting, and patient management. They will provide a high professional and technical standard or ultrasound and the newly established CDC.

Our Sonographers work within departmental protocols, written in conjunction with ultrasound guidelines such as BMUS, RCOG, RCR and NICE.  The post holder will also liaise with a multidisciplinary team, including consultant Radiologists, involved in the management of patients.  The post holder will work alongside colleagues to ensure the day-to-day workload is managed effectively.

Alongside the CDC, we also have a new, purpose-built general ultrasound department, leading off the Radiology department, with three dedicated ultrasound rooms, to be managed and staffed by Sonographers.  A fourth dedicated room for our Consultant and Registrar Radiologists is within the main radiology department, suitable for interventional and general ultrasound.

Although we are a small department, we are a vibrant, friendly supportive team, with a Radiologist interest in ultrasound, with local expertise in drainage and biopsy.

We have regular vascular surgeon input and provide a singular vascular ultrasound service including arterial and venous scans. Training in arterial work with a qualified accredited vascular scientist (AVS).
