Job overview

Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a full time  Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist Surgeon. We are keen to accept applications from candidates with a special interest in all subspecialties, excluding VR. We are taking applications for a locum consultant.

The candidate appointed will work on the Warrington site but will be expected to work in other Trust sites if there is further expansion to ophthalmology services.

This is a full-time post in Ophthalmology and will include on call cover of 1 in 14 for 2nd on call.

Applicants are required to be a Registered Medical Practitioner, to be fully registered with the General Medical Council and listed on the Specialist Register or due to be registered within six months of the date of appointment.

Main duties of the job

·         Shared core clinical activities, to include triaging referrals, offer consultant support to junior members of staff

·         Managing outpatient clinics, in patient review and surgical waiting lists in conjunction with the relevant administrative teams.

·         Provide support to emergency clinics and give advice to the emergency triage service.

·         Communicating with families, GP’s and other supporting professionals.

·         Attendance and participation at clinical governance and audit sessions.

·         Delivery of sub -specialty clinics.

·         Provide support to emergency clinics and junior staff when working on site.

·         May include remote sessions with a developed virtual service which is dependent on the subspecialty.
