As part of the Clinical Support Services (CBU) at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust, an exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Pathology secretarial team as a Medical Secretary.
The Clinical Support Services CBU covers all areas of pathology including Microbiology, Histopathology, Chemical pathology, Haematology, and Biochemistry. This role would be based within the Pathology secretarial team at Warrington Hospital.
This is an exciting time to be joining Warrington and Halton Hospitals and the Clinical Support Services team as we look to improve our services by undertaking a number of quality improvement projects.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, committed, and enthusiastic person with proven comprehensive medical secretarial and administrative skills.
Main duties of the job
This post is for an experienced Medical Secretary. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to work in this extremely busy department. You will carry out comprehensive secretarial and administrative duties to provide an efficient medical secretarial service to the Clinical Support Services CBU, including the designated Consultant(s), junior medical staff and multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this role. Knowledge of Winscribe audio typing software, Lorenzo systems and ICE would be beneficial along with the Pathology LIMS system Molis, however in-house training will be given. You need to have willingness and ability to adapt and learn quickly and have the ability to empathise with people showing understanding for patients’ and relatives’ needs. This includes diary management, responding to enquiries and making bookings. You will action Consultants' correspondence appropriately, and assist in the organisation of the their workload, maintaining the highest levels of discretion and confidentiality at all times. You will ensure all patient notes, patient details, referral letters and information are captured and dealt with accordingly.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To carry out secretarial and administrative duties to provide an efficient and effective medical secretarial service to the Clinical Support Services CBU, including the designated Consultant(s), junior medical staff and multidisciplinary team. The confidential nature of all work concerning patients must be understood and safeguarded. The Medical Secretary is part of a team and must regard the interests of the patient as paramount and, as such, must be aware of the Data Protection Act (1998) and be aware of the consequences of the failure to comply with it.
