If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly specialised Occupational Therapist within the In-patient Orthopaedic Therapy Team at Warrington and Halton Hospitals.

The successful candidate will be a confident leader with experience of working within a fast paced and dynamic clinical environment.  The successful applicant will be responsible for a personal clinical caseload of complex patients both in the elective and trauma based inpatient wards.  The postholder will also provide clinical support and supervision to the wider integrated team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants.

The post holder will be required to have in depth understanding and experience of working within this specialist area.  Additionally, the postholder will have a comprehensive understanding of the ‘Home First’ approach to patient care, where health and care systems work together to provide a safe and timely discharge of people who no longer need to stay in hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post entails day to day clinical management of patients across both the trauma and elective wards, as well as supervision, training and support to both Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants of varying grades. 

Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team and flow management within the Trust the successful candidate will be required to support the team lead in response to trust pressures and strategic objectives. 

The post will involve providing therapy assessments and interventions for a diverse patient group.  Experience of working within the NHS setting within orthopaedics is essential for the post.

The working hours for this post will be 37.5 hours per week - over 5 working days which will include a 7-day working contract and weekend rota commitment.

Based across the Trust sites for therapy services including Warrington Hospital, Lovely Lane, Warrington WA5 1QG and Halton Hospital, Hospital Way, Palacefields, WA7 2DA.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a Specialist Occupational Therapist in in-patient orthopaedics
  • Experience of staff supervision.
  • Experience of managing a complex clinical caseload
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of staff management.
  • Complaints handling.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Post graduate study in a relevant field.
Desirable criteria
  • Level 7 or above study.
