Employer heading
Trauma Coordinator
NHS AfC: Band 7
Job overview
The Cheshire and Mersey Major Trauma Network (CMMTN) and Northwest Children’s Major Trauma Network (NWCMTN) were established in 2012 and are comprised of Major Trauma Centres (Aintree University Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool), which are linked to and supported by a network of local Trauma Units. Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WHH NHSFT) is a designated Trauma Unit within these Major Trauma Networks.
The Major Trauma Co-Ordinator position is a requirement of Trauma Units within the Networks. The Co-Ordinator supports the Trust Trauma Clinical Lead to oversee and audit major trauma activity within the Trust. They will be expected to work independently and manage their own workload, whilst supporting the Trust Trauma Clinical Lead and liaising with the multi-disciplinary team involved in trauma care. The Co-Ordinator is responsible for overseeing submission of a full dataset to the Trauma Audit and Research Network (NMTR), which is a requirement of the Trust’s Trauma Unit status.
The post is full-time, 37.5 hours, to be worked over a five-day week. Some of the work may require attendance out-of-hours or at weekends as trauma cases fluctuate, therefore a degree of flexibility is required. Given this, the Trauma Co-Ordinator will be required to organise their weekly diary accordingly, under the supervision of the Trust Trauma Clinical Lead and the Associate Chief of Nursing, Unplanned Care Group.
Main duties of the job
To work with the Trust multi-disciplinary team to coordinate trauma care and to represent the Trust within the Cheshire and Merseyside Trauma Network.
