We are looking to appoint two clinical research fellows within the cardiothoracic and vascular collaborative. The Mark de Belder research fellow post will be suitable for a doctor with a research interest that can include all areas of Cardiology in addition there is a Tertiary EP fellow post for a trainee with a specific interest in EP. The successful applicants will join busy clinical Cardiology/Cardiothoracic research department at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough. The post would be most suited to an individual who has completed MRCP and has an existing Cardiovascular Medicine National Training Number (NTN), wishing to take out of programme time for research. Applicants who have completed MRCP, who wish to take time out for research but have not yet been appointed to a NTN, will also be considered where they otherwise meet the person specification.

Main duties of the job

·         Develop and complete a research qualification, (PhD/MD).

·         Maintain the highest clinical and professional standards.

·         Support the team in all aspects of Cardiovascular clinical trial delivery within the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Facility.

·         Participate in the clinical service, in particular evening, nights and weekend work on the middle grade (StR) rota.

Undertake further clinical training where possible, without compromising research activities.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • At least 3 years post full GMC registration experience in general medicine, and appropriate Cardiology experience.
  • Evidence of clinical audit
  • Interest in cardiovascular research and ambition to complete research MD/PhD
Desirable criteria
  • Experience at Cardiology StR level
  • • Research experience in relevant field e.g. cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgical trials

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Advanced life support (ALS)
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
Desirable criteria
  • Current Holder of NTN in Cardiology
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate clinical research qualification
