Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist

There is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the acute Paediatric Therapies team at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. This team is part of the wider Paediatric Therapies Service.
The post holder will provide Physiotherapy assessment and treatment to children aged 0-19 years whilst an inpatient on the acute Paediatric wards or Paediatric Critical Care Unit at The James Cook University Hospital. These children/young people may have a wide variety of complex clinical presentations including respiratory, neurological, FND, developmental delay etc.
The post holder will also work within the Regional Cystic Fibrosis team.
The post is based at The James Cook University Hospital but there is also the requirement for some independent travel to different Cystic Fibrosis clinic settings and home visiting for this group of children/young people.
It involves working within the wider integrated Paediatric Therapies Service which includes the community Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams based at West Acklam Centre. Supervision and support is provided by the wider team.
The post entails working within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams offering specialist Physiotherapy assessment, intervention and rehabilitation, providing advice where needed to other professionals regarding the children's physical and respiratory management.

To provide assessment and interventions to children/young people aged 0-19 years old with a variety of conditions who are admitted to the acute Paediatric wards and Paediatric Critical Care Unit at The James Cook University Hospital.
The post holder will also be a member of the Regional Cystic Fibrosis Service, working independently in clinics and providing home visits when clinically indicated.
Undergraduate or postgraduate experience working within Paediatric Physiotherapy and respiratory, would be advantageous but an enthusiasm for working with a wide range of children/young people up to the age of 19 is essential.
Close working with parents, other health and social care professionals is essential. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and on your own, frequently using your own initiative. The role is based on the acute paediatric wards at The James Cook University Hospital and will require providing effective, safe, evidence-based practice in this setting with clients exhibiting a wide range of multiple, medical, social and emotional problems.
We are a friendly, dynamic and supportive team who all work together to provide the best possible outcomes for the children, young people and their families. There will be the opportunity to develop more advanced clinical, leadership and service development skills.
The ability to travel independently is an essential part of this post.

- Evidence of Paediatric post graduate clinical training and development ideally including respiratory competences.
Experience

- Evidence of broad Physiotherapy clinical experience related to paediatrics e.g. neurology, respiratory, learning difficulties.
- Able to evidence leadership experience.
