Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join the health and safety team, at The  James Cook University Hospital to support the delivery of health, safety, and fire training.

Delivery of regulatory health, safety, and Fire training, supporting the training of all H&S-related programmes.

Development of the training programmes, completing monthly reports.

working with colleagues, to improve attendance.

To support incident investigations and risk assessments. 

Main duties of the job

Utilise different educational techniques in delivering practical and theoretical learning for H&S and Fire subjects.

 

Promote and maintain excellent standards of H&S practice, multi-professional team working, effective communication, optimal patient safety and robust infection control practices.

 

Collaborate with and develop effective working partnerships with other members of the Estates and Facilities Team and wider team to deliver training in H&S skills.

 

Work independently and collaboratively to ensure effective organisation, design, delivery and ongoing development of training programmes.

 

Facilitate the development and acquisition of skills and knowledge within an inter-professional educational context.

 

Design, develop, implement, deliver and facilitate inter-professional teaching programmes to enhance the delivery of contemporary evidenced based H&S skills.

 

To develop and build new programmes in line with trust-wide training needs analysis

The post holder will promote a proactive approach to training, learning and maintaining the highest standards of H&S practice at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • BTEC level 3 in training and education (or willing to complete)
  • A fire risk assessment qualification
Desirable criteria
  • First aid at work certificate

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • To provide H&S / fire expertise and education to health professionals
  • Experienced and proficient H&S knowledge.
  • Ability to apply advance theoretical knowledge to the clinical setting
  • To have a grounded knowledge of national documents and recommendations for practice in key aspects of staff safety.
  • Ability to transfer and adapt skills from previous knowledge and experience
  • Proven skill in presentation techniques and group facilitation
  • Effective verbal and non-verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to co-ordinate work within a multi-professional team with varying levels of seniority
  • To have proven organisational skills
  • To assist other staff members in their time management and ability to prioritise workload
  • Ensure staff adhere to national, Trust and local policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Proven H&S advisory skills

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of H&S or Fire training delivery
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in liaising, developing and implementing training programmes
