Job overview

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dynamic and innovative Band 7 Physiotherapist to take on the role of Clinical Lead for the Inpatient and Front of House (FOH) services at the Friarage Hospital. This exciting opportunity is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills who is passionate about enhancing patient care, driving innovation, and supporting professional development within the therapy department.

The post holder will have responsibility for leading management and clinical practice on the Medical wards by means of an innovative and collaborative approach to work related issues. They will act as a clinical expert utilising well-grounded academic skills to lead in the area, demonstrating advanced specialist skills and knowledge, whilst assuming professional responsibility and accountability in the assessment and treatment of patients within the medical and surgical wards.

Experience of the management of acute & chronic respiratory conditions is not essential would be advantageous. 

Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to deliver a high level of clinical skills in  assessment and management of patients that have varying complexities in their presentation covering a wide range of specialities.  An understanding of Frailty and the impact on patients is also integral to the assessing of patients. This role is key in the delivery of ensuring we have effective patient flow, facilitating safe discharges with a wide understanding of the community services to provide patients with a seamless service and ongoing interventions if needed.       

You will be responsible for leading the Inpatient and FOH services, providing expert guidance, and ensuring high standards of patient care.  The role requires someone who can work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to service development, ensuring a continuous improvement culture within the department.  The post is crucial in the The Trust provides excellent training and development opportunities, and you will be encouraged to further your professional growth while making a meaningful impact on the service.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • BSc or Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Registered as fit to practice by professional body, e.g. Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Completed or willing to work towards an MSc if available or relevant post graduate courses at masters level
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate courses

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working as an autonomous practitioner at equivalent to band 6 level
  • Demonstrates experience of supervision and teaching
  • Experience of being a clinical specific educator
  • Experience working in an inpatient service
  • Demonstrates a highly specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to inpatient service
  • Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning skills •
  • Demonstrates an ability to prioritise and co-ordinate the workload of the team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of the management of acute & chronic respiratory conditions

Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic IT skills
  • Demonstrates analytical skills and judgement when dealing with the Physiotherapy management of complex clients
