An opportunity has arisen in the Cancer Services Department for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Administration Apprentice.
You will have opportunity to develop the skills that help provide a comprehensive and effective administrative service as well as gaining insight into the provision of education and development within the NHS.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to appoint an Administration Apprentice to work within the support team with the Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) based within the Sunrise Centre.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a growing team to carry out a varied range of tasks to assist with the CNS workload in including managing phone calls, preparing documents for clinics, providing patients with information and general coordination of patient’s pathways. This post will provide training in multiple hospital systems and administration tasks as well as the development of knowledge in a number of areas such as the diagnosis and treatment pathways of cancer patients, so would provide an opportunity to progress within the department over time.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is a full time post of 37.5 hours a week. A proportion of time will be spent with a training provider studying towards the Level 2 or 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. The post holder will be expected to complete the Business Administration apprenticeship.
This post will provide not only the general administrative experience and training required for your qualification but will also offer the opportunity to learn about and work with many of the departments and teams within the hospital, provide you with experience of multiple clinical IT systems and processes as well as develop knowledge of the diagnosis of Cancer and the treatment pathways
Please note that we will not be able to shortlist any applicants with more than 50% prior learning/work experience of this apprenticeship standard.

Essential criteria
- GCSE A* - C in Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
Desirable criteria
- ECDL or other administration qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working in an office / administrative environment.
- Experience of using Microsoft packages including Word and Excel.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of taking meeting notes or minutes
Practical/Intellectual Skills
Essential criteria
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills
