Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to build and develop the administrative team to provide a brilliant service and support the General Surgery Department.
We are seeking a dynamic, well-organised, and pro-active administrator. You will need a working knowledge of all key IT systems.
Main duties of the job
You should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a good eye for detail, and be a true team player. The ability to organise and prioritise work under pressure so as to meet strict deadlines is an essential feature of this job and ensure early escalation of any potential problems.

This is a fixed term post for six months, working 37.5 hours per week .

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Ability to formulate and implement solutions to areas of concern with regard to waiting list accuracy and/or compliance with NHS targets.
Experience of waiting list management and understanding of local and national targets and RTT.
.Ability to deal distressing situations.
Medical Secretary experience, particularly audio-typing and medical terminology.

Essential criteria
- Two GCSE’s (or equivalent) at level ‘C’ or grade 4 Maths and English.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous NHS experience. Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in an Acute NHS Service Provider.
Skills / Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Advanced keyboard skills.
- Excellent working knowledge and use of IT systems used within the hospital. E.g. PAS, & Other IT applications such Maxims, Excel, National Spine and Care Plus.
