Job overview
We are seeking to appoint a part time Speciality Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro at 5.5 PA's.
The successful applicant will support the dynamic delivery of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery services to the population of Cornwall. The post will be based in the dedicated Maxillo-Facial, Oral Surgery and Orthodontics unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro providing an exciting opportunity to work within a committed team comprising of three Consultants in Maxillo-Facial, one Consultant Orthodontist, medical, nursing and administration staff. There will be a requirement to undertake clinical duties at the West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance and other locations across the county.
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery treats all aspects of patients within this specialty and this post is an integral part of this. A population of over 400,000 is covered leading to a varied and busy department. The specialty works closely with adjacent departments of E.N.T., dermatology, and Emergency Department and shares the dedicated department with an active Orthodontic Unit.

Main duties of the job
- Share with colleague’s responsibility for the day to day management of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
- Contribute to the teaching and training of junior staff or medical
- Have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
- Actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
- Attend meetings as required

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full Registration with licence to practice with the General Dental Council (GDC).
Desirable criteria
- Entry on the GDC Specialist Register in Oral Surgery.
- Post graduate qualification
- MFDS or equivalent.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Effective participation in clinical audit
- On call experience covering hospital Oral and Maxillofacial patients
Desirable criteria
- Ability to undertake independent theatre sessions in Oral Surgery
- Previous experience of working as a Specialty Doctor in OMFS

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
