Education and qualifications

Essential criteria

1st level registered nurse
Post registration qualification in relevant area that has enhanced clinical practice
Mentoring and assessing qualification

Desirable criteria

Post registration management/leadership qualification or willingness to undertake a post registration certificate in management/leadership

Experience

Essential criteria

Recent management/leadership experience relevant to clinical speciality
Evidence of clinical competence and credibility in clinical speciality
Evidence of teaching, mentoring and developing staff
Understanding of setting and monitoring of standards
Able to assume a lead clinical role as appropriate
Ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary clinical team

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
