Qualifications

Essential criteria

Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy approved by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
Registered with HPC
On-going membership with the RCSLT

Desirable criteria

Membership of specialist interest groups.

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of working with adults with a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders.
Experience of working in a wide range of settings including acute hospitals, community hospitals, clinics and patients’ homes.

Skills

Essential criteria

To have highly developed auditory and perceptual skills to be able to communicate condition related information to clients and relatives
To have a highly developed knowledge of a broad range of specialist assessments as required.
Accountable for own professional actions, to work within codes of practice, professional guidelines and policies.

Peer MDT diagnostic decision-making, with the support of the senior clinical MDT where required
Tech-enabled outcome report writing
Outcome calls with parents and families (via video call)

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
