Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arose for a full time Clinical Site Manager at Furness General Hospital.

This role is to oversee the clinical and operation management of the hospital on a day to day basis.

You need to make quick decision to enhance flow following policies and protocols to enhance the best patient experience. 

 

Main duties of the job

As the clinical site manager you work autonomously and as part of a team it holds a high level of decision making authority and will be the first point of contact for all external enquires.

You will work closely with all divisions to ensure national targets are sustained. 

We are seeking a caring, compassionate experienced Registered Nurse who can demonstrate excellent leadership skills, can delegate effectively, and work effectively and efficiently as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  

You will be reliable, flexible, motivated, have excellent clinical skills, a commitment to ongoing learning and development, a commitment to delivering high quality care and be willing and open to embracing positive change and transformation.

The post holder will be expected to work shifts over a 7 day period. 

 The Matron will work closely with the successful candidate providing development and support.   

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI),  Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

RLI and FGH have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay. 

Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.

We are looking at the successful candidate to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and relevant experience required, to lead and manage a busy elective and general surgical ward, with the support of strong and committed multi-disciplinary teams across both areas.  

 

 

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • 1st level Registered Nurse
  • Mentoring/assessing qualification or teaching qualification eg City & Guilds, Professional Trainers Certificate
  • At least 2 years experience at band 6 level
  • Evidence of change - Project initiatives and evidence of improving care
Desirable criteria
  • Recent leadership development or willingness to work towards a leadership qualification
  • Experience of managing rosters/budgets/procurement
  • Experience of managing risk/ complaints/grievances.
