Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a  Advanced Care Practitioner in Gynaecology to join our team of Advanced Practitioners within the Surgery and Families Division.   You will work in the Gynaecology Team across all 3 sites within the Trust; Furness General Hospital, Westmorland General Hospital and The Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The post holder will support the development of the expanding Gynaecology service, through nurse led clinics. 

The role blends direct, higher level clinical care with education, management activities with a focus on Governance and as such the post holder is expected to build working relationships across the local health community. The post holder will work closely with the multi-disciplinary Gynaecology team. 

The successful applicant will be paid on 'Annex 21' of Agenda for change terms and conditions until  successful completion of the MSc in Advancing Practice.

 

Main duties of the job

  • To act as an advanced autonomous practitioner, demonstrating a high level of practice and knowledge whilst participating in direct evidenced based patient care. He/she will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing professional and clinical support in the care of patients.
  • To undertake health assessments; diagnosing, treating and discharging patients.
  • The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will provide expert care and treatment to patients within agreed protocols and clinical guidelines. However the Advanced Clinical Practitioner will also have the ability to make decisions outside these frameworks, where necessary based on best practice.
  • Provide support within the team and act as role model and resource, encouraging and developing a high standard of clinical skill and improving patient outcome.
  • Functions in a variety of role dimensions: health care provider, educator, researcher, clinical advocate and implementer of clinical governance.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
