Working with the Head of Wellbeing & OH to manage, develop the provision of an efficient, effective and professional Occupational Health (OH) Service and be involved in all aspects of its service delivery to promote and maintain a high degree of physical, mental and social well-being for all employees of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust.
Work with the Head of Wellbeing & OH to develop and implement collaborative working model across Occupational Health & Wellbeing Services.
Provide quality healthcare to employees by continually advising staff and management on the protection of employees against any physical or environmental health hazards which may arise from their work or from the conditions in which that work is undertaken.
The post holder will line manage a group of Occupational Health nurses and hold a clinical caseload themselves, as well as leading and influencing the development and implementation of organisation and departmental policies and procedures

Provide quality healthcare to employees by continually advising staff and management on the protection of employees against any physical or environmental health hazards which may arise from their work or from the conditions in which that work is undertaken.
The post holder will line manage a group of Occupational Health nurses and hold a clinical caseload themselves, as well as leading and influencing the development and implementation of organisation and departmental policies and procedures.
Provide professional nursing leadership, direction, advice and take professional responsibility for the OH clinical activity, promoting the highest professional standards in a quality learning environment whilst contributing to the development, delivery and achievement of the service's objectives.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person specification
Qualifications and or knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with current, live Professional Registration
- Master’s Degree or, equivalent demonstrable experience, skills and knowledge
- Management training/leadership course
- Demonstrates up to date knowledge and expertise in the speciality
- Relevant clinical and management experience
Desirable criteria
- Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Occupational Health) Degree or equivalent Diploma with experience in this field
- Member of specialist interest groups and networks locally and nationally
- Possess a relevant H&S qualification or be prepared to obtain such qualification within 6 months of commencing post
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post graduate experience
- Experience of working in an Occupational health setting
- NHS Occupational Health experience
- Experience of budgetary management and setting
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams at a management level
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leading a MDT case management model
Aptitude and ability
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with managers and staff at all levels
- Ability to work without supervision or guidance using their own initiative to solve complex multi stranded problems
- Ability to deal with highly complex, sensitive and distressing situations, assessing and recommending courses of action
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to work under pressure
