NHS AfC : Band 5
''Creating a great place to be cared for and a great place to work''
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay has a firm commitment to strengthening the diversity of our workforce, and therefore welcome and encourage applications from likeminded people who can support our ambition to become effortlessly inclusive. We are particularly keen to hear from protected groups – including BAME, LGBT+ and people with a disability.
Job overview
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and pro-active Radiographer to join our friendly and supportive team at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI). This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term post providing backfill cover while a member of the team undertakes departmental training.
The successful applicant will be an HCPC-registered Diagnostic Radiographer with experience of working within an NHS hospital environment. You will join a forward-looking, dynamic department committed to delivering high-quality imaging services and supporting professional development.
You will be encouraged to broaden your clinical experience, take advantage of in-house and regional training opportunities, and play an active role in maintaining excellent standards of patient care.
Successful candidates will participate in the 7-day Radiology shift system, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, as part of our 24/7 diagnostic service.
Main duties of the job
The Royal Lancaster Infirmary Radiology Department provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and interventional imaging services, including:
-
Accident & Emergency and In-Patient imaging
-
Out-Patient and GP work
-
Theatre and fluoroscopy imaging
-
CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Radionuclide Imaging
Within your role, you will undertake a broad range of general radiography work, including A&E, fluoroscopy, dental radiography, and theatre procedures. You will rotate through key areas, working alongside experienced radiographers and clinical specialists in a supportive learning environment.
This is an ideal opportunity for a Radiographer looking to consolidate and develop their clinical skills within a welcoming and progressive department that values teamwork, compassion, and continuous improvement.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
