Job overview

Mammographer Band 6, 22.5 hours based at West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven. 

The North Cumbria Breast Imaging Unit offers a wide range of high-quality services for all patients with breast problems. It is also the centre for the North Cumbria Breast Screening Programme. All care is patient-centred and is delivered within a supportive environment by a team of experts, who are all specialists within their own field.

We are a friendly department based across two sites making the most of the skills of both Radiographers and Assistant Practitioners by encouraging role development and advanced practice having adopted the four-tier structure with Consultant Mammographers and Advanced Practitioners in post. 

We are looking for a qualified Female* Mammographer to join our breast imaging team. The Post holder will be based at West Cumberland Hospital Whitehaven  but will be expected to travel  Cumberland Infirmary if required.

Main duties of the job

You must have HCPC registration as a radiographer and Postgraduate Award in Mammography. 

You will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team providing both screening and symptomatic breast imaging to the population of North and West Cumbria. You will gain a wealth of experience in breast imaging supported by the existing breast imaging team.

The North Cumbria Breast Screening Unit provides screening to approximately 22,500 women per year between the ages of 50-70 as part of the National Health Service Breast Programme.

Essential criteria
  • • BSc Radiography or equivalent.
  • • Current HCPC registration.
  • • Good command of the English language with a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • • Post Graduate qualifications at Masters level in Mammographic practice
Desirable criteria
  • • Essential IT skills or equivalent.

Experience
