Job overview

Cardiology Support Worker, 15 hours per week  Band 3

We have a vacancy  in the Cardiology Department in the West  Cumberland Hospital  for a 15 hour post  as a  Departmental Support worker. You will work as part of a busy multi-disciplinary team, providing support to the Cardiac Physiologists, Nurses and Doctors within the department.

Main duties of the job

 Work will be predominantly in Cardiology Outpatients running clinics, performing ECG’s, fitting cardiac monitors, performing Venepuncture and supporting with other investigations such as Echo, Exercise Testing , 6 minute walk tests and Pacemaker checks.  You will be expected to contribute to housekeeping and other departmental duties such general tidiness, equipment cleaning , stock replenishment and general administrative duties.  

Applicants should possess GCSE in English language and Maths and  NVQ level 3 (or equivalent)  Experience of working in a healthcare environment is essential. You should have good communication skills and able to work as part of a team or individually. You should have the ability  to prioritise your own workload and work to deadlines.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths and English.
  • NVQ 3 (or equivalent)
  • Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
  • Certificate in Electrocardiography (SCST)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working within a health care environment provide care for patients with a range of condition..
  • Performing ECG’s

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of Tests performed within the department and conditions treated.
  • Ability to maintain and improve knowledge, skills and competence to ensure high standards of patient care
