Immunisation nurse b5
Immunisation Nurse within the Immunisation Specialist Nurse Team and all health professionals involved in delivering the national immunisation programmes across Cumbria. Supporting the education and training of health professionals undertaking roles in immunisation of children and adults as part of the nationally commissioned immunisation programmes and working across the Cumbria wide Health economy
The post holder is expected to be flexible in the performance of duties associated with this post. All jobs are subject to change from time to time and accordingly will be regularly reviewed. The post is county wide and significant travel is associated with the role
Main duties of the job
- training of all immunisers
- planning and delivery of Flu/COVID/BCG and complex vaccination clinics
- timely and accurate collection and retrieval of relevant data
- supporting a programme of audit of vaccination programme delivery and vaccine storage
- audit of cold chain systems
- deputising for the Specialist Nurse for Immunisation and the Specialist Nurse for TB as required
The role will sit within the Immunisation and TB service remit but also as part of the wider infection prevention and control team. The teams provide a corporate trust wide function offering expertise in several areas of clinical practice including infection prevention and control, vaccination and immunisation and Tuberculosis services.

Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse (on part 1 of the NMC register) with previous post registration experience.
Desirable criteria
- Certified current vaccinator
- Recognised Teaching qualification or equivalent experience of teaching.
- Degree or working towards
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Basic understanding of the national immunisation programmes.
- Basic Knowledge and understanding of the staff seasonal flu programme
- Basic knowledge and understanding of the TB programme
- Knowledge of cold chain management
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and understanding of the current COVID vaccine programmes
- Understanding of audit processes
