Mae ein hardal yn ymestyn dros 20,640 o gilometrau ac rydym yn gwasanaethu poblogaeth o 2.9 miliwn. O fewn ein hardal amrywiol, mae ardaloedd gwledig anghysbell, trefi glan môr prysur a threfi mawr.

Ond, mae ein gwasanaethau amryfal a modern wedi’u teilwrio ar gyfer anghenion amgylcheddol a meddygol ein cymunedau amrywiol - o feiciau i gerbydau ymateb cyflym, ambiwlansys llinell flaen, hofrenyddion a nyrsys yn ein canolfannau rheoli.

Bob blwyddyn, rydym yn ymateb i fwy na 250,000 o alwadau brys a dros 50,000 o alwadau argyfwng ac yn cludo dros 1.3 miliwn o gleifion di-frys i dros 200 o ganolfannau triniaeth yng Nghymru a Lloegr.

Ein staff ymroddedig yw ein hased mwyaf. Rydym yn cyflogi 2,576 o bobl, 76% ohonyn nhw’n weithredol – 1,310 ar ddyletswyddau brys a 693 yn y gwasanaeth di-frys ac yn y gwasanaeth tywysyddion iechyd.

Rydym yn gweithredu o 90 gorsaf ambiwlans, pedair canolfan reoli, tair swyddfa ranbarthol a phum gweithdy cerbydau.

Hefyd, mae gennym ein Coleg Hyfforddi Cenedlaethol i sicrhau bod ein staff yn cael y wybodaeth ddiweddaraf a’u bod yn datblygu’n broffesiynol yn rheolaidd.

Could you become a Volunteer Community First Responder (CFR) within the Amman Valley & Neath Valley areas?

This is an exciting opportunity to become a Community First Responder within one of the following areas:

  • Neath
  • Port Talbot
  • Glynneath
  • Dulais Valley
  • Ammanford
  • Brynamman

Who can apply?

  • Do you enjoy a challenge?
  • Are you good under pressure and remain calm in an emergency?
  • Are you proud of the community in which you live and want to give something back?
  • Do you have free time to spare?
  • Are you ready to learn essential lifesaving skills?
  • Do you have a full driving licence?
  • Have access to a car?
  • Are you over the age of eighteen?

If you can answer ‘yes’ to these, then this volunteering opportunity may be perfect for you.

Our volunteers are trained by the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust to administer basic first aid skills, oxygen therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of a defibrillator.

When a patient faces a serious emergency, every second counts for them and a simple helping hand from a CFR can make a vital difference to their lives. CFR's in Wales are volunteers who donate their spare time to attend appropriate 999 calls and provide first hand emergency care to people in their own community. When a 999 call is made, our CFR's are alerted to an Emergency call via a handheld mobile device from one of our three Regional Ambulance Control Centres. Our volunteers will drive to the address of the incident, under normal road conditions, and will adhere to the Highway Code at all times. Our volunteers will not be permitted to drive under Emergency Conditions e.g. Blue Lights.

What happens if my application is successful?

Should your application be successful, you will be invited to an induction evening on Thursday 16th January 2020, venue in the Llansamlet area (17:00 - 20:00). During the induction evening we will be holding a short presentation and an informal discussion to get to know each candidate and their suitability to become a CFR.

The CFR training course will be on the following five days (all five days must be attended):

  • Wednesday 19th February 2020
  • Thursday 20th February 2020
  • Friday 21st February 2020
  • Saturday 22nd February 2020
  • Sunday 23rd February 2020

(09:00 - 17:00 daily in the Llansamlet area).

All new volunteers MUST be able to attend the induction evening and all course dates in order to be accepted, therefore, we will take your application as confirmation of your availability.

All new volunteers are subject to an ID check, an enhanced DBS check, occupational health clearance and two character references.

Each new learner will also be given access to online learning materials, which must be completed prior to the commencement of the course.

A network of WAST support staff will train volunteers in life saving skills and how to use the equipment available to our CFR's.

On successful completion of the course, we will then be able to link you to your local CFR team via their team coordinator, and allow you to integrate with team and start using your newly acquired skills by responding to calls in your immediate community.

Please note, any application received from outside of the listed areas will not be considered on this recruitment.
