An opportunity has arisen for an experienced ICT application and systems team leader to join our digital team that has set out an ambitious digital strategy over the next five years to deliver the very best information and digital solutions with patient care at its core. WAST is a national service, and the Digital Team are representative of this.
The role is full time and permanent working in a hybrid manner with base to be confirmed on appointment. This post within the ICT Department requires an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who responds positively to new challenges. The ICT Applications and Systems Team Leader will be responsible for delivering a high quality, professional service to the fast-growing Trust’s ICT systems.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be expected to provide an expert and effective ICT support service, predominantly in development, implementation and ongoing maintenance across a range of ICT applications and systems across Wales, including the provision of ICT support and advice to managers and users.
Using own initiative, and in accordance with Trust policy, the postholder will also be expected to investigate/resolve and plan multi-faceted ICT systems, to ensure the smooth running of the trust’s ICT Applications and Systems.
In addition, the ICT Applications and Systems Team Leader will be required to provide day to day supervision of ICT Applications Engineers.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level (Information Technology, or related subject) or equivalent demonstratable level of work experience and knowledge
- Knowledge of working with ICT applications and systems
Desirable criteria
- Project Management related qualification.
- Qualification in team leadership, such as the Institute Of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 2 or 3
- ITIL Foundation qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience of an ICT Applications or Systems role.
- Experience of managing and motivating a team.
- Evidence of leading the design, development and deployment of computer system upgrades and implementations.
- Evidence a strong understanding of windows PC and server operating systems.
- Proven experience of desktop and server troubleshooting.
- Proven experience of supporting all peripheral hardware devices.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supporting IT within a healthcare environment.
- Experience of working in an Agile Development environment.
