The Flexible Staffing Services aims to match suitably skilled workers with the flexible staffing requirements of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust

The Trust Catering department have posts available providing meal services to patients and/or in the retail units on site. The Catering department provide an essential service within the hospital that contributes to the wellbeing of patients. This is an opportunity to be a part of this service. The flexible catering assistant would support the catering functions at ward level and as part of the wider Catering teams. Undertake a variety of tasks associated with food preparation and food service to our inpatients in line with legislation. Ensuring at all times that a high quality standard is achieved at ward level.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for reliable and hardworking team member to join our busy catering department providing catering services to patients, staff and visitors. You will primary be working in the main patient catering area for filling a vital job role in providing nutritious food to aid the recovery of our patients.

Ideally possess basic numeracy & literacy. Have a good understanding of customer care and be able to communicate well with patients, staff and visitors. Catering experience and a Food Safety Certificate are desirable but not essential, skills and technical training will be given.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To work as part of Facilities & ward teams to carry out a variety of tasks associated with food preparation, food and beverage service to patients, visitors and staff
  • To adhere to food hygiene regulation & standard
  • To advise the general public and staff on food allergen advice
