Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to work on Ward 1 at Queen's Hospital Burton.

We are seeking a motivated registered children's nurse to work within our Paediatric Ward.

We are an 8 bedded inpatient ward caring for a range of patients from 0-16 years of age. Ward 1 cares for patients with a wide range of medical, surgical and mental health needs.  We also are a paediatric shared care unit for oncology patients from Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Alongside our inpatient beds we also run a surgical and medical day case 3 times a week. The day case area cares for a wide variety of patients from ENT surgery to allergy tests and regular infusions. 

The post will involve a variety of shifts over a 7 days week including bank holidays, rotating between night and day shifts.

Ward 1 has a committed philosophy of Family Centred Care where parents/carers are actively encouraged to be involved in their baby/child’s care with support and education from the nursing staff.

Preferably applicants  should hold RSCN or RN child branch qualification alongside relevant experience. However, we will also consider applications from newly qualified nurses and nursing associates.

We will support you through a wide range of in-house study days and training, we work very closely with our clinical educators to enhance learning.
