Job overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Advanced Pharmacist to lead and develop clinical pharmacy services within our Women’s and Children’s Service at Queen's Hospital Burton.
This is an opportunity for a dynamic pharmacist to play a key role in ensuring the safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines, while working as part of a highly valued multidisciplinary team. You will provide advanced clinical input, support service development, and contribute to education, training, and governance across the division, working as an integral part of the UHDB Women's & Children's Pharmacy Team.
The post also offers opportunities to contribute to strategic planning, service innovation and workforce development, supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care aligned with national priorities and Trust objectives.
Main duties of the job

Deliver an advanced clinical pharmacy service to Women’s and Children’s services at Queen's Hospital Burton

Provide specialist advice on medicines optimisation to multidisciplinary teams

Lead and support service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives

Contribute to medicines governance and safety, including incident review and risk reduction

Support and develop junior pharmacists, technicians, and trainees

Contribute to financial stewardship and medicines optimisation strategies

Deputise for the Divisional Lead Pharmacist when required
- Work closely with the Women's & Children's pharmacists at the Royal Derby Hospital (occasional cross-site working may be required)

Qualifications & Professional Registration
Essential criteria
- GPhC registration
- Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. NPPG)
Clinical Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Significant post-registration hospital pharmacy experience
- Broad clinical pharmacy knowledge applied to patient care
Desirable criteria
- Specialist experience in Women’s & Children’s / paediatrics / neonates
Clinical & Analytical Skills
Essential criteria
- Advanced clinical reasoning and ability to manage complex medicines-related problems
- Applies evidence-based practice and analyses clinical data to improve care
Service Development & Management
Essential criteria
- Ability to support safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines
Desirable criteria
- Experience in project management, service redesign, or managing change
- Experience with medicines budgets or financial management
- Experience contributing to audit, quality improvement, or service development

- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
