Colorectal Clinical Administration Officer

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time CAO in colorectal for 12 months.

Clinical Administrative Officers (CAOs) provide a range of administrative support services to a group of consultant medical staff and/or other senior members of Division teams. 

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be expected to have advanced skills commensurate with their responsibilities. They will work substantially independently, providing support of the highest quality, and taking leadership in their professional areas.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital is located in Calow, Chesterfield, which is situated on a green field site on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is home to the Crooked Spire and is also close to Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham, thus offering numerous choices for recreational activities and lifestyles.

 

Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by the queen in 1985 and since then it has continued to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 570 beds. We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.

 

We are currently rated GOOD by the CQC.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Educated to GSCE standard (or equivalent), to include English grade C or above
  • • Familiar with Microsoft Office based computer packages, including email and internet
Desirable criteria
  • • Shorthand skills
  • • Any office based training such as NVQ
  • • Medical terminology

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience of working as part of a multi- disciplinary team
  • • Previous office/secretarial experience
Desirable criteria
  • • Previous NHS experience
  • • Previous knowledge of hospital PAS systems

Skills

Essential criteria
  • • Good communication skills
  • • Good prioritisation and organisational skills
  • • Familiar with work based computer systems
  • • Ability to work under pressure, prioritising work to meet deadlines
