Senior Assistant Technical Officer Audiology

Job overview

We are looking for a reliable individual with excellent communication skills, at ease working with adults with a hearing loss, their family and carers.

You will be working independently, as part of the Adult Audiology team, to deliver a friendly, yet professional aftercare service to patients with hearing aids.

Ideally you will have worked within an Audiology department and have previous experience of working with hearing aids and people with a hearing loss. Whilst training will be given, knowledge of the Auditbase system is desirable as well as Oticon and Phonak software.

Main duties of the job

 Key Duties will include;

  •   Assist in the smooth running of the hearing aid repair service and the support role of ear mould management and stock organisation
  • Assist in the training for new ATO staff, student Audiologists and associate Audiologists.
  • Modify existing ear moulds or venting, take aural impressions to make new ear moulds according to the assessment.·       
  •  To fit, verify and instruct patient on how to use prescribed hearing aids within a current management plan
  • Examination and recording of ear and tympanic membrane condition
  •   Examination and repair of hearing aid and associated accessories

The successful applicant will supervise the work of the Assistant Technical Audiologists.

Co-ordinate stock orders and requirements.

Run autonomous repair clinics.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE to Grade C including Science or equivalent.
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject
Desirable criteria
  • Computer literate
  • Audiology Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable Customer Service Experience
  • Experience of working in an Audiology department
Desirable criteria
  • Working with Auditbase
  • Using Phonak Software
  • Using Oticon Software

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Able to programme hearing aids
  • Able to use an auriscope
  • Able to take aural impressions
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of communicating with people with a hearing loss
